What Is G2?
G2 represents the latest technology in tri-axis, accelerometer trailer brake controllers. “Tri-axis” means that the G2 measures the rate of deceleration or gravitational pull created by braking of the tow vehicle in three different planes – front to rear, left to right and up/down planes. This is a truly proportional control, delivering pre-set power to the trailer brakes depending upon your individual axle, load or braking requirements. The G2 is self-leveling and requires no level adjustment. All power feature settings are done using the three easy touch buttons to the right of the display panel; “Up”, “Menu” or “Down”. These adjustment buttons allow for a variety of settings.

Once mounting and wiring installation of the G2 has been completed and power is supplied to the controller, the LCD screen illuminates to show that you have or do not have a trailer connection. Touching any one of the three selection buttons brings you to the “Set Up” screen where you can do an initial set up of all controller features or scan directly to the preferred selection as shown. After the initial set up, the G2 will retain all initially programmed settings until these are individually changed.

“Brake Type” allows you to choose between electric or electric over hydraulic trailer braking systems on the trailer being towed. G2 is designed to accommodate conventional electric brakes or hydraulic drum or disc trailer brake systems, more and more of which are appearing on higher end travel trailers and 5th wheel, stock/ag, utility and commercial trailers.

“Boost Mode” which increases brake controller gain setting automatically depending upon your preferred braking power requirements. “P1” increasing power by 5%; P2” increasing power by 10%; “P3” increasing power by 15% and “P4” increasing power by 20%. The boost feature provides for your previous “P” level to be retained in memory. Boost provides for easy controller power adjustment based upon towing a heavily loaded trailer or unloaded trailer, or provides for your particular desired power response when braking.

“Alarm Mode” allows you to engage the G2’s new and exclusive “audible alarm tone” which will signal you to any problems or interruption in the trailer braking system. This audible alarm is available only on the Hayes G2, insuring added warning in the event of any trailer braking related fault.

“Diagnostics” gives you the option of determining either your Battery Voltage, Stoplight Voltage, Output Voltage or Output Amperage.

The G2’s wide, high resolution LCD display panel indicates all setting features and by selecting the
“Display” screen, settings for color, intensity and contrast may be made for your individual choice.

In the event of any trailer braking malfunction occurring, the “Audible” tone will signal a problem and the LCD screen will display a “Warning” to indicate Open Ground, Overload, Output Short or Loss of Power. (The audible setting may be deactivated if not desired).

The G2 is designed to handle all towable and 5th wheel trailers from single to quad braking axles.

It comes with a Limited Lifetime Warranty.

The G2 also incorporates an all new manual activation lever which pulls from rear to front of the controller making for easy, four fingertip engagement in any emergency braking situation. This is a unique design available only in the Hayes G2, eliminating the “pincher” motion required in other brake controller model varieties.

As with all Hayes models, the New G2 is equipped with a connector for use in quick and easy brake controller installation by using any one of our Quik Connect dual-mated wiring harnesses. These OEM-to-HBC harnesses suit the majority of current and past model tow vehicle applications; GM, Ford, Dodge, Toyota, Nissan and Honda.

And the New G2 model 81792K Kit comes complete with the all new Hayes Quik Receiver Sleeve, designed to suit the G2 and ALL Hayes brake controller models. Model 81793 incorporates a VHB (Very High Bonding) adhesive which mounts directly and securely to the tow vehicle dash requiring no hardware, screws (or screw holes in the dash). No tools needed for quick, easy, labor and time saving controller installation.
